In a rare co-branded initiative, Pepsi and Mountain Dew joined forces in a program called Iconic Summer to bring fans the chance to win thousands of prizes and experiences including a trip to the MTV Video Music Awards, VIP Dew Tour passes, and more.
The joint UTC code promotion allowed for a simple and understandable program mechanic, but a challenging UX problem for mobile vs larger desktop/tablet viewports. Equal brand representation requirements, localization (English and Spanish) and a desire to show as much branded content as possible regardless of device was solved with a unique tabbed mobile UI and independent scrollable panels on larger viewports.
Regardless of initial design and development challenges, the co-branded program was a success with millions of codes entered and over 250,000 prizes and experiences awarded in the United States and South America.
